The first time I came to New York, I was 17.
I thought I was coming to see a city — but it was actually the first time I understood how deeply a space can shape emotion, memory, and the way we experience ourselves within it.

I still remember that feeling.
The sensation of walking into a place and immediately slowing down. Looking longer. Feeling something before even understanding why.

Since then, I’ve always searched for spaces with that kind of energy — spaces that are not only beautiful, but deeply atmospheric. Places that stay with you long after you leave them.

STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN is exactly that kind of place.

Conceived by gallerists Nacho Polo and Robert Onuska, the historic Tribeca space feels less like a gallery and more like entering an incredibly personal world — one carefully composed through texture, proportion, light, silence, and emotion.

Collectible design exists in dialogue with contemporary art, bespoke craftsmanship, sculptural lighting, and rare vintage pieces. Every room unfolds slowly, revealing layers of materiality, shadow, and carefully curated contrasts.

Works by designers and artists including Francesco Balzano, Anthony Guérée, Maxime Boutillier, Mauricio Aguirre, Jan Garncarek, Luca Stefano, Stéphane Parmentier, Luis Arredondo, Emmanuelle Simon and Boldizar Senteski create a conversation between minimalism and emotion, monumentality and intimacy.

What makes the space even more special is the presence of the private art collection of Polo and Onuska themselves, deeply personal works integrated naturally into the atmosphere rather than treated as isolated objects.

Pieces such as Torkwase Dyson’s Liberation Scaled #2 (Bird and Lava), Otani Workshop’s Owl and Boy, and Carol Bove’s Small Prudence quietly anchor the space with a sense of gravity, intimacy, and permanence.

Everything feels intentional, yet effortless.
Minimal, but never cold.
Refined, yet deeply emotional.

There’s a quiet tension between contemporary vision and vintage soul — and that balance is what makes the space unforgettable.

You don’t walk through it the way you walk through a showroom.
You experience it the way you experience someone’s home — slowly, emotionally, instinctively.

And maybe that’s what makes it so special.
It reminds you that interiors are never just about objects or aesthetics.
Because we all know – the most powerful spaces are the ones that make you feel something.
